a welcoming, affirming, justice-seeking congregation

The Flowers Today are in loving memory of Ralph Donnelly from Dorothy, Ian, Leslie, Kyle, Scott, Laura, Sandra, Michel, Antoine, Myreille, Brigitte and Amy.

Next Sunday at Immanuel the Outreach Committee will share in worship leadership with Dianne Baker. In 2011, Dianne spent several months serving as an Accompanier with The Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme in Palestine and Israel (EAPPI). This programme of the World Council of Churches brings internationals to the West Bank to experience life under occupation. Ecumenical Accompaniers (EAs) provide protective presence to vulnerable communities, monitor and report human rights abuses and support Palestinians and Israelis working together for peace. When they return home, EAs campaign for a just and peaceful resolution to the Israeli/Palestinian conflict through an end to the occupation, respect for international law and implementation of UN resolutions. Dianne plans to remain following worship to share some slides and further conversation about her time as an EA. All are invited to participate. We’re very grateful to Dianne for coming to share with us about the church’s involvement in this important issue.

Pastoral Care Coverage: Nancy will be away next weekend, from Thursday, March 15th to Tuesday, March 20th, attending a family wedding. Arrangements have been made for emergency pastoral care coverage over the weekend. If you are in need of pastoral care during this time, please call Joan Macdonald of the Pastoral Care Committee at 661-1966, and she will put you in touch with the minister who is on call for us. Many thanks to the Ministry and Personnel, Worship, Outreach and Pastoral Care Committees for making this trip possible!

Stewardship of the gifts we have been given is a key aspect in the living out of our faith. Many thanks to the Immanuel Finance Committee for their thoughtful and prayerful financial leadership throughout the year, and for helping us all to focus on stewardship concerns in our worship services in the month of March.

The Immanuel Outreach Committee has designated the third Sunday of every month as “Stella Sunday”, and receive donations of food for Stella’s Sunday afternoon programming. Donations of high protein canned meats and beans, cheez whiz, jams, peanut butter, crackers, juice boxes, baby food, baby supplies and also cookies and buns would be greatly appreciated. The Outreach Committee will make sure these items get to Northend Stella. The next “Stella Sunday” is March 18th. Please help out if you can.

Retirees Luncheon will be held on Tuesday, March 13th from noon to 2pm. Please see sign up sheet. Watch for more details!

Immanuel Blanket Makers will be gathering on Tuesday, March 13th from 4:00 – 8:30pm. Bring your scissors and sewing machine if you have one and a friend or two. Dinner will be provided so sign up so that we can plan. If you have any questions, just call Martha @ 667-6079 or Cindy @ 669-1198. Donations can be made by marking your envelope “Blanket Makers”.

The Visioning Committee has scheduled three General Meetings to continue the Visioning conversations. With the variety of times and dates that have been scheduled we are hoping to give everyone an opportunity to participate. The intension is to understand: Who we are as a Congregation? Who we are called to be? We will hold two sessions after worship; one on Sunday March 11th and one on Sunday April 15th. Please choose the one that best suits your schedule and sign up on the sheet posted in the AMEN corner. If you have any questions please contact a member of the Visioning Committee……Bill Hickerson, Marg Smith, Karen Turk, Ian Donnelly or Lynda Endicott.

Flower Policy Anyone wishing to place flowers in the church, please sign Flower Calendar for a date of your choice. You are then invited to bring your own flowers. I am available to help with choices regarding colors or flowers. Either contact me or the church office to place an announcement in the church bulletin. Sharon Barbour 668-4571.
