a welcoming, affirming, justice-seeking congregation

Many Thanks to Bob Haverluck for his generosity in participating in the planning and leadership of this morning’s worship, and in sharing his story, The Tree King.

Pastoral Care during the Month of July: Provision has been made for pastoral care coverage during Nancy’s holiday in the month of July. If you are in need of pastoral care during this time, please contact Joan Macdonald of the Pastoral Care Committee at 661-1966, and she will put you in touch with one of the ministers providing coverage.

Summer Worship Schedule: Please note that this is our last regular worship service, and then we will take a break for the month of July and the August long weekend. After today, services will resume on Sunday, August 12th. However, Nancy will be back in the office and available for pastoral care on August 1st.

The Congregation of St. Simon’s Church, Lynn Lake has experienced the devastation of the loss of its building to a deliberately-set fire. St. Simon’s is a shared ministry of the Anglican and United Churches. The land and building are the property of the Anglican Diocese of Brandon. We are asked to remember the people of St. Simon’s in prayer in the coming weeks and months, and to find ways of offering our support and solidarity. As that congregation is doing, we also will remember in prayer the young man charged with the arson.

Fringe, Anyone? The Immanuel congregation will be interested to know that The Touring Test, a play written and produced by Scott Douglas, will be staged at this year’s Fringe Festival, and will be playing in the wheelchair-accessible Alloway Hall at the Manitoba Museum at various times between July 19th and 28th. Advance tickets are a good idea, so you might want to go to the play’s website at http://touringtest.net/. Hopefully members of the congregation will run into one another there! All the best to Scott in this creative venture!

The Worship Committee Chair currently is setting up the volunteer rosters for the fall, but September often is a bit of a challenge to schedule. If you plan to be at worship on some of the Sundays in September, and could commit yourself to a turn at greeting or preparing coffee or tea (or a glass of juice) for the time following worship, please let Teri Gartner know after worship today, or call her at 661-5531. Thanks!

Tuesday Morning Study Group will continue on a drop-in basis over the summer months starting July 3rd and continuing to the end of August at 10:00 am. Everyone welcome!
