Worship to Raise the Evening Star:This summer, we’ll be doing something quite different with our worship services at Immanuel. Rather than cancelling Sunday worship during July and holding our usual 11:00 Sunday services in August, we’ll be holding Tuesday Night Vespers, either in the sanctuary or up in the air-conditioned meeting room, at 7:30 each Tuesday throughout both July and August. The word “Vesper” means “evening prayer,” and is traceable back to an old English word for “evening star” (Venus). The summer Vespers will allow us still to gather on a weekly basis for a simple worship service and an opportunity to connect with one another, and will free up our weekends for travel or to attend a neighbouring church. If you would like to participate in the planning and/or leadership of these services, please place your name on the sign-up sheet in the Amen Corner.
