a welcoming, affirming, justice-seeking congregation

Many Thanks to the Advent Planning Team, and to all who are helping with the leadership of Advent worship services at Immanuel this year. We continue exploring the theme, “By Another Way.” Many thanks also to Peter, Eileen, the Choir, and other musicians who are contributing to our Advent ministry of music.

2014 Church Calendars are now available. They are $6.00 each. Please call the office or see Pat Schulz after worship.

Goslpie Club will be holding their Luncheon at noon this Thursday, December 12th at noon.

Christmas Flowers Anyone wishing to contribute to Christmas Flowers please see Joan Macdonald or call her at (204) 661-1966.

Potluck Decorations If you would like to donate a Christmas ornament(s) that are non breakable for our tree outside please give them to Ron Metcalfe, hang them on the tree or hand in to the office. Due to the fact that they are outside they will not be returned, we will save them again for next year. Thanks.

Haiyan Typhoon Relief The donation cheques should be made out to the United Church of Canada with the Emergency Response-Haiyan Typhoon Relief at the bottom of the cheque. If you have already sent in a cheque made out to the Haiyan Typhoon Relief, that is all right, when they receive the cheque at Head Office they will stamp it on the back with the United Church of Canada. Sorry for the mix up in information earlier. Members of The United Church of Canada have shown their generosity this past week. A total of $235,271.25 has been given by 1515 donors as of Wed, Nov 20th. All donations received by December 23rd will be matched by the Canadian government.

Second Fridays (plus!) at the Centre for Christian Studies

December 13th at noon at CCS (60 Maryland) – The Centre for Christian Studies’ popular series of noon-time presentations and discussion continues with Charlotte Caron and Barbara Barnett discussing “Music and Spirituality”. But that’s not all! This will be followed by CCS’s holiday open house, with cookies, cider, singing, and special musical guests. Come make the season bright with us, noon to 3 on Friday, December 13th at CCS. www.ccsonline.ca/second-fridays

Blue Christmas Service at John Black Memorial United Church on Monday, December 9th at 7pm in the chapel. Blue Christmas acknowledges the darkness we all feel at times but offers, as well, a gentle word of hope and healing. It will be a time of quiet reflection and fellowship. Everyone is welcome.
