a welcoming, affirming, justice-seeking congregation

Welcome to Advent Worship at Immanuel Today we begin our Advent journey with our initial exploration of the theme “Keep Your Lamps Trimmed and Burning,” and the lighting of the Lamp of Wisdom. Many thanks to our various Advent Planners who helped to conceptualize our worship, wrote or drew for it, set up the space, or worried about the details. Many thanks, also, to Peter, Gary and the Choir, and to Eileen for the preparation that began with the ordering of the music in August or September. Thanks to all who will participate in leadership in these services, including the children and young people of the congregation. Thanks to those who were at the Pre-Advent Dinner last night, and coloured our beautiful bulletins. And finally, thanks to the congregation, for your openness to these Advent worship experiences.

Advent Bulletins This morning’s bulletins were decorated by those who attended last night’s Pre-Advent Dinner. To help to enhance our Advent worship space, you are invited to hang your bulletin on one of the ribbons on the back wall before you leave this morning. If you weren’t able to be at last night’s dinner, but would like to take one or two of them home to colour, please let Nancy, Lynne or Leslie know.

Pre-Advent Dinner Again this year, our Pre-Advent Dinner was a special time. To those who planned, set up the space, helped out in the kitchen, prepared the worship service, coloured the bulletins, brought food to share, or just came and participated in any way, thank you. Like the wedding banquet in today’s story, and the communion banquet we will celebrate this morning, last night’s banquet surely mirrors The Great Banquet in which all who are exiled and excluded will return home.

2015 Church Calendars are now available. They are $6.00 each. Please call the office or see Pat Schulz after Worship.

“Just” Christmas TODAY November 30th, 1:30-3:30pm at IMMANUEL is an opportunity to shop differently at Christmas. A wide variety of gifts will be for sale with the proceeds going to local and global projects. Hope you can come!

White Gift Sunday will be on December 7th. Immanuel supports a variety of Winnipeg projects by donations of money (use your offering envelope marked “White Gift”), food, children’s gifts, baby supplies. Please bring these on December 7th as you are able.

Christmas Flowers Anyone wishing to contribute to Christmas Flowers please see Joan Macdonald or call her at 204-661-1966.

Potluck Decorations If you would like to donate a Christmas ornament(s) that are non-breakable for our tree outside please give them to Ron Metcalfe, hang them on the tree or hand in to the office. Due to the fact that they are outside they will not be returned, we will save them again for next year. Thanks.
