a welcoming, affirming, justice-seeking congregation

The Flowers Today are in memory of our mom, Grace Searle McMurtry with love from Margaret, Dennis and Ruth and our families.

On Sunday May 31st, in Nancy’s absence, we have asked Bev Ridd to lead worship. Augustine United Church was the first congregation to become affirming to the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender community and Bev will share their church’s experiences, challenges and successes in serving the GLBT community. With the Pride Parade June 14th, the worship elders want to revisit our commitment by gathering your questions of interest or concern by May 24th. This is an opportunity to grow in faith; your questions will be addressed in Bev’s presentation. Please do not respond by email but deposit your questions anonymously in the Amen corner in the box marked AFFIRM.

St. Matthews Maryland Ministry asks our help in providing the following items to serve their community; non-perishable food (meat, fish, beans, pastas, baby food, etc.), hygiene, feminine and baby products. Please bring in next Sunday, May 17th as you are able. Thank you.

The 2015 Annual Meeting of the Immanuel congregation will take place this Thursday, May 14th, beginning with a potluck supper at 6:00. Our meeting will begin promptly at 7:00, and will move us through a review of our last year of our congregation’s ministry. The meeting will include a presentation by our urban planner Barbara Myers of options for the potential development of the land adjacent to the church. One of these options is new since our congregational meeting in February, and promises to spark lively conversation. At this meeting, we will make decisions as to whether or not we will continue with our exploration, discern a direction, and identify the next steps in the process. Your participation is encouraged. A sign-up sheet for the potluck supper has been placed on the bulletin board in the Amen Corner.

Nepal People need our helpand the federal government will double any donations, until May 31, through The United Church of Canada Mission and Service Emergency Relief Fund. Please make cheques payable to Nepal Emergency and include your envelope number.

Friendly Reminder When you would like to book a space within the church please contact Sharon in the office.

Thanks so much.
