a welcoming, affirming, justice-seeking congregation

Postponement of Congregational Meeting: Due to an oversight, the congregational meeting scheduled for today, February 5th, was not announced in worship last Sunday. Congregational meetings must be announced on two consecutive Sundays in order to be duly constituted. Hence, we are calling a meeting of the Immanuel congregation on Sunday, February 12th, immediately following worship. The purpose of this meeting is to strike a Ministry Profile Committee to work with a Conference Settlement Commission representative in assessing the ministry needs of the congregation. When the work of this Committee is done, a Search Committee will be struck. The Search Committee may include some of the members of the Ministry Profile Committee, but it is not an expectation that Ministry Profile Committee members would remain on the Search Committee. If you are interested in letting your name stand for the Ministry Profile Committee, please speak to a member of the Council in advance, or come to the meeting prepared to place your name on the slate. We need a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 7 members. If you are unable to attend the meeting but would like to let your name stand, please speak to a Council member and ensure that your name is put forward at the meeting. (Please note that the postponement of this meeting will not delay the overall process, as the Conference Settlement Committee rep will not be appointed until February 14th.)

Volunteers Needed for `Just a Warm Sleep` This winter, Winnipeg lost a community member to the cold – and that was heartbreaking. 1JustCity felt it needed to respond. As the people who visit our drop-ins during the day told us about the cold, brutal nights outside – it didn’t feel right to lock our doors at night. 1JustCity is pleased to announce that ‘Just a Warm Sleep’ is opening Thursday, January 26th until Friday, March 31st with support from Bear Paw Security, The Salvation Army, and in partnership with Augustine United Church. ‘Just a Warm Sleep’ is in need of volunteers. Information sheet on the bulletin board.
