Immanuel United Church offers many opportunities for education and spiritual growth, community-building, social activism, support, friendship, and fun. For more information about any of Immanuel’s groups or activities, or to find out how to get involved, please contact the church office (669-0220).
Choir – The choir enhances our worship life through music. (Practices are every Thursday at 7:00 pm.)
Study Groups – Various study groups meet to reflect on and discuss scripture or a book of spiritual significance. (Tuesday morning study group meets every Tuesday at 9:30 am, Women’s Wednesday evening group meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month at 2:00 pm)
Sunday School – Christian education and activities for children during the Sunday morning worship service.
Golspie Club – A social gathering for seniors on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month. Carpet bowling, tea, and friendship. (Meets on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month at 1:00 pm.)
Movie Groups – Immanuel has two groups which meet to watch and discuss films and videos.
Immanuel Players – A drama group which presents an entertaining dessert theatre production each year.
Pastoral Care – Immanuel Volunteers reach out with friendship, hospitality, and support in times of need. Anyone wishing a visit, a listening ear, or a shoulder to cry on should contact the church office.
Funeral/Memorial Committee – Supports the church’s ministry of funerals.
Winnipeg Harvest Food Bank – Immanuel supports the work of Winnipeg Harvest by hosting a food bank for people in the community from 8:00 am to noon every second Monday.
Groups that meet at Immanuel
Al-Anon & Alateen – The “Paths to Recovery” Al-anon & Alateen group for friends and families of problem drinkers meets at Immanuel on Friday nights at 8:00 pm.
Bettors Anonymous – The “There is a Solution” BA group for people who struggle with gambling meets at Immanuel on Tuesdays at 8:00 pm, Thursdays at 8:00 pm, and Saturdays at 2:00 pm.
